Team Intervention - Vice President's Cross-Functional Team
Coaching and Consulting an Engineering Team for Breakthrough Performance
The client is the cross-functional team of the Vice President of Engineering for a vertically integrated aerospace division of a diversified global business.

The project centered on changes in the business climate and the need to equip this team with new skills around a compelling business case.  The engagement spanned one year and consisted of facilitating the  team in a defined and measureable process model linked to the engineering overall strategy and targeted elements that would be seen as providing breakthrough performance, build trust, master conflict, secure commitment, accept accountability and realize desired results.  The consulting strategy included comprehensive individual team member and group assessment, facilitating the urgent case for action, establishing a clear conversational environment, creating new levels of leadership for team members, and eliciting proposals for rewriting the future to achieve radical breakthrough performance.  Ongoing coaching efforts targeted enabling factors to build team effectiveness and create sustainability.    The process output included identifying the selected area for action mastering the climate of engineering anomalies and significantly reducing costs in measureable ways.

Follow up survey indicated an overall positive impact among managers of the team members; feedback included: “we’re a different organization than we were before;”  “we’re a lot better team than we were a year ago, better at communication, far better morale and cooperation, targeting real actions that make a huge difference,” “better at collaborating across functions, getting results…”
